Differences and characterisics of the several Revell Constitutions?

Aye gentlement,

I am pretty sure this questions was discussed in several posts before - but I could not find any summary of all that different information you all put together the last years concerning the different US Constitution Versions on the market.

I would like to know: what are the differences between the many different USS Constitution Modells created by Revell?

There is - of course - the big 1/96 Constitution (#05602). Which is - as we learned - a very good kit representing a mixture the Issac-Hull-Modell, the Smithonian and - if I am informed correct - of the 1927-Version of the ship. Engineering of the mould was perfect - very detailed, etc. .. one of the best plastic kits for sailing ships.

Then there is a Kit of US United States "1/150" - which is - as far as I understood - in reality a model of the modern USS Constitution - as it looked like in the 80ies? The scale seems not to be correct - its more about 1/196???

There is another Kit (#05600) which is acutally available at amazon Germany - USS Constitution 1/111. It has similarities to the US United States kit - such as integrated guns at the spardeck ... integrated deck-details, etc.

When I recalculated the scale from the numbers given at Amazon it turned out to fit perfectly. "Lenght of the modell = 55,8 cm" and wikipedia says for the real ship: Lenght over all: 62 m - which indicated to me: 1/111 is a perfect scale ...

Then I wondered: 1/111 and 1/96 are not thaaaaat far off each other. But my 1/96-Consti has a lenght of 91,8 cm - nearly twice the little one?!??

We discussed that in another forum and I learned that the only dimension which is most reliable is the lenght of the gun-deck. Since the 1/96 modell is a very good representation of the ship the only conclusion must be: 1/111 can not be true! One of our german model-builder-friends said, that his measurement of the gun-deck-lenght indicate that the scale must be about 1/144 ...

Then there is a revell-monogram Constitution - scale 1/200, length of the modell about 50 cm ... which seems to be very close to the so called "1/111 Constitution".

Now - if we just compare the three "small" kits - what are your experiences / your knowledge about them? Were are their good and bad points? Which scale would be correct? Are there more?
