Posted by tankerbuilder on Sunday, July 25, 2010 10:47 AM

Hi,I have a question.Without totally changing my paint brand(I prefer TESTORS MODELMASTER COLORS,REG.ENAMEL)Can someone help me with the mixes for I.J.N. deck and hull colors.I have a 1/700 THREE DECKED AKAGI , that I want to do correctly.I also need advice on which P.E. set would be best for this vessel. This is the ONLY 1/700 scale I.J.N. ship I have from pre-1941 times.the other is the 1/72 scale P.T. 215, which is modern J.M.S.D.F. vintage. thank you in advance     tankerbuilder

We have a PE set planned for that kit, but it won't be available any time soon. Not sure whether anyone else has a set specifically for that kit. If not, probably the Gold Medal Models IJN Carrier set would be best.

If you want to stick with MM colors, then I would suggest you get the IJN Paint Chip set from Snyder & Short (you can order from Randy Short via http://www.shipcamouflage.com, or e-mail him at rshort@macnexus.org. That will allow you to mix your MM paints to match the IJN colors.
