Thanks for the update.   Lucky Model's English website lists it as available.    http://www.luckymodel.com/

Hi Ed,

LuckyModel has the Bronco LCS-2 kit listed as "In Stock" and the Trumpeter kit as "Available".

In LuckyModel's system, "Available" means that the item may be ordered, but they do not currently have the item in stock.

Another Update - Apparently there are TWO new LCS-2 models being released right now in 1/350.  The one from Bronco (Sonicmodel.com has pics of all the sprues, and box), and one from Trumpeter (sonicmodel.com has pictures of the box).  FreeTime Hobbies is taking Pre-Orders for both, so it may only be released in China right now.  From what I can see, they have different PE.  Trumpeter's looks like it may have all the padeyes.  But it says 170 plastic parts and over 400 parts total.  I believe the Bronco box says it has 206 parts, but no breakdown of how many plastic.  It should be interesting when someone builds both and tells us the differences.

I'm forecasting Jan/Feb for the CVL, but this is strictly my forcast and no one else's.

Try Alclad II. It' comes in many shades of aluminum. Off the top of my head, there's white alum., alum., dark alum., duralum., magnesium, etc.

It's airbrush only, and I like it for aircraft.

FYI - To update a little.  Freetime Hobbies is now taking Pre-Orders for the 1/350 Bronco USS Independence LCS-2.  They are also taking Place Orders for the 1/350 Dragon USS Independence CVL-22 Carrier for those of you of a more conventional preference.  There is no Release date on the LCS-2, and no date estimate or price on the CVL-22.  Someone on ModelWarships posted that the LCS-2 is Released and had a link to LuckyModel.com.  The link is to a Chinese website and the Google Translation was not really understandable to me.  I would think this would be a pretty fast turnaround to go from the Test Shot on Aug 5, to a Release on Sept 2.  But then, what I know about Model Manufacturers would probably fit in a thimble.  I will leave it to all you better informed persons to decide if this might be real.

Thanks for the update.   Lucky Model's English website lists it as available.    http://www.luckymodel.com/

I normally deal with Squadron,  they're local and support the IPMS club -- but I think I'll order from Lucky.   They can have it here in 2 weeks or less.

When I spoke with Tim of Stevens at the show and had a chance to look in the box of the LCS-2,  it was complete less the decals and instructions.   The only difference I see between the box contents I saw and the sprue shots on the Lucky Model website is the box contents were done in a beige plastic.   The sprue shots are gray.  (So how does one do lamp-post aluminum - as described in the FSM review of the Dragon 1:700 scale version)..    Tim indicated that he thought that since the kit was in an advanced state when he got it, that it would be available to the market in a month or so.   The man was dead on as far as his estimate.

 JMart:

Ed & Tucchase - thanks for the info and updates; it is indeed a great time to be a ship builder!

Veteran models & Fine molds have released some very nice resin AM partsfor modern ship at 350 scale. Do you know how the metal AMs you mention compare to those?

I have some Veteran aftermarket stuff in 1:350.   It is excellent.   The white metal is a bit softer and pliable than the G-Force material which I think is a nickel-silver alloy.

G-Force does a lot of lost-wax brass casting of aircraft landing gear.   the guns & directors are a logical extension of the product line using similar thechniques

I was looking at the 1/200 Arizona and Mr. Gee was talking to someone else.  The gentleman asked what he was casting with and Mr. Gee said he uses what he calls White Bronze.  He did not go into detail, and the gentleman didn't ask.  But bronze is a mix of Tin and Copper, so maybe his mix also has some nickel, and/or silver, to make it stronger and harder.  His parts look like they have a bronze and silver sheen, combined.

Veteran has some unique items which are not available in other materials.   They may be a bit pricier than similar products in resin.

I looked at the Fine Molds boxes on the Dragon booth,  but didn't bother to look closer ... subjects were not applicable to me.

Sorry no pictures of the stuff inside the box.  It does look good.  Includes some PE.  The box was complete less instructions and decals.  It may be here in the next month or two.

Yeah, we had to be back in Tucson by 5:30, so after viewing the Contest Room, we split about 2:30 to get some lunch.  We were not about to spend $8.00 for a sandwich in the Convention Center.  That LCS-2 sounds nice.  Maybe someone else can get some pics of it?

1:350 LCS-2 test shot also shown at Phoenix and some other stuff

Tucchase's posting on the Arizona missed a late arrival at the Stevens/Trumpeter stand.

On Thursday afternoon they received a test shot for a 1:350 scale LCS-2 Independence by Bronco

I had the the opportunity to look in the box.   It looked to be pretty nice,  I don't  have photos.  It includes a fairly complete PE fret with rails and flight deck nets.   It was molded in khaki plastic - but that will change.  There were no instructions or other material.   Since the plastic and PE was complete I would assume that this will begin to hit the outlets in the one to two months.

I was getting set to buy the Dragon 1:700 kit but decided to hold off until this kit comes..

Resin Shipyard said they would consider a LCS-1 if they could get a set of hull lines.  Resn Shipyard was also showing the test shot of their 1:700 Halifax-class Canadian Frigate.   The first batch of hulls are cast,  next up the small bits, drawing & ordering the PE,  decals, and instructions.   Its probably an end of the year release.

On the note about Ernie Gee's 40mm guns.   It s a twin 40mm gun,  single Oerlikon,  Mk 51 director,  and a  20mm ammo locker (no tub) cast in a high quality metal.  I've picked up several to go with my square-bridge Fletcher mod.

When I get home tomorrow I'll post photos of the new Admiralty Models Foxtrot sub in 1:350.

Ten minutes until the doors open.  The other vendors are arriving.   Time to go get a cup of coffee and get set for another day at the ISW booth
