Hello Keilua

I built to "Former Soviet Courageous" a year ago.  The instructions called for the deck to painted Olive Green (XF-58).  This time around I would like to get the color closer to the actual color.  The Shenzhen is a big ship 1/200 scale.  I am building the small destroyers (Haerbin, Zunyi, Hefei, etc) this time around.

Thanks for info.

Jeffry

 John @ WEM:

Remember that the Chinese Navy is actually an arm of the Army (Peoples' Liberation Army Navy, or PLAN). I suspect the "Military Green" is actually their standard Army green--whatever that is, but probably a bit on the olive side. The PLAN gray is different from that of other navies, being a bit on the blue-green side. Modern Royal Navy Grey is probably close, but I'd still add just a hint of green.

Cheers,

Thank you, John for the info on the Grey paint.

As to the Military Green decks Keilau suggested Russian Deck Green WEM M 12.  I was also considering Olivgrun WEM AR G 05.  Do have an opinion on which would be the better Military Green deck ???

I am no expert on this topic. I just happened to notice that WEM has the Russian Deck Green from an earlier post and suspect that the PLAN may copy the Russian.

I have a Trumpeter destroyer kit of the Shen Zhen (PLAN 167). The instruction call for German Grey (Tamiya XF-63) for the deck. The color looks greenish dark grey to me.

Chinese destroyers - Deck Green/Gray Hull
Posted by Jeffry on Thursday, August 19, 2010 12:22 AM

I am doing a series of Chinese Missile destroyers (Hefei, Tongling, Kaifeng, Qingdao, Zhuhai, etc).  The instructions call for painting the decks "Military Green".  I use Tamiya and WEM paints for most of my painting.  Can someone tell me what color to use ???

I will also be using a Gray paint for the ships hull and superstructure.  Can someone tell me what color to use ???

Final question, do Chinese destroyers have a black strip between the antifoul red and the gray on the hull ???

Thanks

Jeffry
