Of course the basic build took very little time! So (the soon to be) HMS Torbay will be hitting the paint rack in the near future. Since the kit builds any one of the Trafalgar class and comes with marking options for all, why did I choose Torbay? Well, #1, I like the later ducted fan style screw (pardon my ignorance of proper nomenclature for that item) and, #2, because she is mentioned in one of my favorite Tom Clancy books, Red Storm Rising. For anyone who remembers that portion of the book I already am building a 1/350 Alfa and soon will be building a 1/350 USS Chicago. The other players in that portion of the story.
Here are a few shots of the nearly completed pre painted sub, and alongside a 1/350 initial type Los Angeles class SSN.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...
