Anthony, how was the Takao build? My favorite Japanese cruiser class.

It was probably 2-3 years ago,It wasn't as good as a Hasegawa kit, like the Mikasa, the instructions were vague in some areas, and I remember a couple of fit issues, but it could not have been that bad,I got it done.I do remembe that either the bow or stern flag staff was missing in my kit.and there were no decals for the float planes or flags. But overall it was ok.

All of my ships are in 1/700-720 because of size considerations (small apartment), and because I like the challenge of fitting a small scene in a small display case (I have a cat). Here are the completed ones:

  • Victory-class cargo ship, resin.
  • SS LaCrosse Victory cargo ship, resin.
  • USS McInerney, FFG-8, Perry-class frigate, plastic.
  • USS Enterprise, CVN-65, aircraft carrier, plastic.
  • SS John Randolph, Liberty cargo ship, plastic.
  • IJN Kimikawa Maru, seaplane tender, plastic.
  • USS Lenawee, APA-195, Haskell-class attack transport, resin.
  • SC-669, subchaser, part of Lenawee diorama, resin.
  • Fishing trawler, part of Lenawee diorama, resin.

Fleet total is 596.  99 are in 1/350.  The rest are 1/700.  Of the total 269 are built.  I have been thinning out both built and unbuilt to concentrate on big gun ships.  Battleships, battlecruisers, coastal battleships and monitors will eventually make up the vast majority of the collection.  While they represent more than half at this point I expect the plan will eventually see that number be more like 75% in the future.   WS

I just have 1 model of the USS Arizona (The Revell kit) and that's it.

I'm hoping to get a U.S.S Missouri kit soon, and then, I'll probably be happy for a while (unless they start producing models of the Vietnam PBRs and river landing crafts)
