I would like to have a small carrier in my collection.Hasegawa and Dragon's kits seem pretty interesting.I only want one, which one would you recommend.I,m leaning toward CVL-22. Any thoughts to help me with my decision ?

I am just getting back into modeling after a very long break while in the Navy for 23 years.  And I am new to this forum.  I am starting with a car, I was a big car guy before I quit, and then diving right into a large Gato sub.  If I was going to build a Carrier, and I will before long, I would and will pick one of the WWII Carriers.  They will always be the most famous to me.

If either of those actually happen, they look nice. You'll be paying $ 150 or so for something about 17 or 21 inches long, which wouldn't bother me. I happen to like the CVE's more, but that's just me.

Nice couple of options, probably.

Bondo, they are both pre-ordering at Freetime for around $120.00 which isn't bad,CVL-22 seems to have lots of extras

Or you can pick up Airfix's 1/350 HMS Illustrious for under $80 from all the major online shops (squadron is listing it for in the $60 range today) if you want something a bit more modern... Bravo Airfix!

Of course if you are set on one of those two you listed, Gambier Bay certainly is more famous due to the circumstances of her demise...

You could also model her as USS Guadalcanal, another famous episode.

Guadalcanal would be my choice.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
