Trumpeter's 1/350th Scale Prinz Eugen
Posted by mstazz62 on Sunday, October 31, 2010 2:43 PM

Happy Halloween fellow modelers! Hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to share my build of the German Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen with you guys, so here goes:

Here's the assembled and painted hull:

Some shots of the  gun turrets and the main deck:

Here's the construction of the forward superstructure:

Lots of P/E added. I'm using WEM's Prinz Eugen set and their Kreigsmarine door and porthole set:

Here I'm building the folding bridge wings:

And here is the port side added:

That's it for today - but I've got the rest of the afternoon to work on her. Woohoo!!!!

Thanks fpr lookin' and, as always, comments/critiques welcomed!

Happy modeling,

Mark

Wow! It's been a while since I worked on my Prinz Eugen, but woo hoo I'm back!  Gentlemen, thank you for your replies! There's lots more to do so here we go. I got the superstructure ready to mount on the deck:

Superstructure in place, I started adding P/E to various areas:

I was going to start rigging the fore mast before I glued everything down, but my references are unclear and I'm holding off until I get some good pics:

Here's the rear radar / gun director:

That's it for now, but there's lots more to come, so stay tuned!

Happy modeling!

Mark

Just ordered this kit yesterday. HLJ sells at 70% off - from Y12800 down to Y3840 ($46.72) plus Y2160

($26.28) EMS shipping to Thailand. Formerly I got Aoshima's IJN Kongo 1:350 at 60% off.

Konigwolf13, I don't think the weathering is a "secret," it appears to be a simple black wash of either oil or acrylic paint with the excess wiped off, in order to make some of the raised details stand out. Some ship modelers do it to make the details "pop," others don't, as a matter of personal taste.
