ULAD Type VII Uboat decal, Part 3
Posted by eisentx on Thursday, November 4, 2010 2:24 PM

If any of you kind people out there has the ULAD Type VII U-boat, Part 3 decal, I would greatly appreciate a scan of the "Parsifal" emblem for U-556.

Many thanks,

Tom

While you are at it, kind person, I am looking for the "Laughing Sawfish" for U-96. Big Smile

This is for the 72 scale Revell kit. Please, please, please, please!

I have the kit sheet but it doesn't have the laughing Swordfish.

You can easily find the logo on line and make your own decals.

The logo I find online:

isn't exactly like the Laughing Sawfish as seen on U-96.

There even seems to be a rather hot debate as to what color the LS was on U-96. I think the leading contenders are green fish with a red mouth.

I guess I will just take the image above and try to fake it. Trouble is that the only art program I have is MSPaint. Tongue Tied

I have other pix like yours but still can't make out whats going on with the eye but using your picture here is a starting point.

The eye doesn't look as evil so it may need to be reshaped, perhaps flattened on the top

Thanks, D6!

That looks great! But you are right about the eye. It isn't quite there yet.

Look on page 9 of this pdf:  http://amp.rokket.biz/docs/laughing_sawfish.pdf

The eye looks like a white circle in the jaws of a capital letter "C". I will try tweaking it with Paint this afternoon and see what I can do.

OK. I tweaked it before the afternoon.

What do you think?

Using the image at the top of that file I did this one that includes the quirky painting.

LOL we must have posted at the same time.

The eye appears to be egg shaped.

PERFECT! Bow Down

I will print that out on regular paper to make sure of the size. But when that's right then we are golden!

Thank you, I really appreciate it!

BTW what program did you use? I'm hoping to get Corel Draw come Christmas or the tax return. Because there has to be something better than Paint . . .

Thanks for your reply Leelan.

Yes, this is for the 1/72 Revell Germany kit.

Do you have it by any chance?

Oops. Correction, make that Division 6. Thanks for the link to the Ukranian site. Have you ever dealt with them before?

No I haven't purchased from them before but it was the only place i found that had it.

Several reviews with pictures but all the dealers seem to be out of them accept that one site.

I used Google for the search but you may find something using a different search engine like Yahoo or something, different search engines will give different results.

if you could find a good illustration of the artwork you could make your own decal or seeing that it is a line drawing you could even try to draw it on by hand with a fine tip pen.

If someone is home printing this, I'll be more than happy to pay for an extra set for me. I know Photoshop from A to Z but have never printed decals and don't even know the materials available or needed to print them at home. I'm currently working on this kit as well and I would like to go with this version. Help me guys, you're my only hope.

I looked at the model yesterday and was shocked to see how small the decal needs to be. You could put four Laughing Saw-fish in a single square inch! Tongue Tied

If blank decal paper comes in 8.5 X 11 inch sheets, what will we do with the other 92.5 square inches???

And, remember, to get that white border etc the decal would have to be printed on white decal paper. Comore printers don't print in white ink. Oops

- Leelan

P.S. I don't know if I want to send for white decal paper or just send the image to someone I know who prints custom decals. George, I will make inquiries and let you know. OK?
