Great job ,Jake and James on my favorite battleship. She earned 15 battle stars during WWII, survived a torpedo hit by the improbable 6 torpedo spread fired by the I-19, credited with 24 downed enemy planes, sunk a transport ship, and only lost 10 crewmen in action. joeviz My wife surprised me with this kit about a month ago. I've have not started on it yet (its next on the list). I'm curious about PE. I have not decided weather to use it or not. still researching it. Your finished product looks great!

Nice work there Big Jake!!
Joe I would suggest Lions Roar or Eduards for the PE as I feel that Tom's stuff is a little bulky and not in true. the Lions Roar has Turned Barrels for both the 16" and 5" guns with ends drilled out, really make me salivate. I also used Yankee Modelworks Turrets. Not to hijack a thread here but to show the difference, here are a couple of my BB55
.
Sweet looking ship! Well done!
Geez, I;ve ben married almost 29 years and my wife has never bought me model, she tells me I have everything and she never knows what to get me. Mostly true I suppose. Toms Modelworks has a good PE set. Some of it is too damn small though to even see with TWO eyes.
That is such a great job! Now maybe I'll get off my butt and do that BB-55 that's been in my closet for awhile. Thanks for the inspiration. It gives me something to shoot for.
All in all I feel great about te client is happy. Not bad for a "Oe Eyed Old Fat man as Rooster Cogburn would say.
good job! it always how YOU feel about.
Hi Gang,
Been a long 6 months till I started it, eye isses to boot. The kit is Trumpeters 1/350 scale USS North Carolina BB. Tom's Photoetch is added. Although I don't quite think it my best work even with 1 eye. The MS/32-18 pattern is quite nice once you're finished, but getting there is a trip.
The entire album (185 pictures) is here
