As Ed pointed out, the Revell kit is in their lovely "box" scale. I don't know of any manufacturer who makes aircraft in that scale, the "common" ones are 1/350 and 1/700. As a suggestion, check the Modelwarships site, http://www.modelwarships.com/index1.html and search for people who have built that kit. Perhaps some of them have leads for fleshing out the airwing.

Many thanks for the pointers. I need to complete the airwing (kit only has a few of the aircraft); any other ideas on where to get 1/542 (1/500) scale aircraft (FA/18, F14, etc)?

There is a little bit of aftermarket support in one of Revell's old oddball box scales.

Gole Medal Models makes a set of PE

and StarFighter Decals offers several decal sets with specific hull & deck number combos

Starfighter also offers some aftermarket aircraft,  but their selection gets a little thin in the odd scales

Just bought a Revell 1/540 scale USS Forestall model; looking for any suggestions regarding detailing (photo etch kits), sailors, or any other feedback for detailing.
