Small submarine models
Posted by SNOOPY on Friday, December 10, 2010 2:11 PM

I was in a hobby shop yesterday and there was a glass display case with some really nice models on display.  My question is; there was a submarine about 5 " long and it looked like a Los Angeles Class nuclear submarine.  I could be very wrong but the model was nice and the perfect size to sit on my shelf.  Does anyone know what size this model is and who would make such a small scale sub and lastly, is there a whole series of these particular subs like Los Angeles, Seawolf, USSR Typhoon, etc.?  My time is limited for working on models so this small scale with not so much detail is kind of perfect for me right now.

Doing a quick search on the Tower Hobbies site it would appear that you saw something in 1/700 scale.

The TH site gives dimensions of the models.

The model  was probably a 1/700 model from Hobby Boss.  They have a number of 1/700 submarine models ranging from WWII to modern.  Easy Model also puts out some of them all ready assembled and painted.
