Thought I'd run this buy both armor and ship fans.
Having my first encounter with serious PE. I've done pits and pieces on
tanks and planes, not discerning any difference when I put it on and
skipping a few molecular bits because nobody could have seen them and I
didn't care if they were there. But at a certain point especially for armor and ships you have to get serious about PE.
There is an obvious question though. There are
marked differences in kits, in paints and even cements. Are there some
brands of PE that have a reputation for - say - being just a micron
thicker and just a little easier to handle without bending? Or having
instructions that show one what the completed part is supposed to look
like? I'm sticking with what I have here (and saying preparing a proper
prayer when it comes time to install railings) because there's no
choice. However, I've got some major kits in the stash. So if you get
sturdier and better fitting PE parts by paying extra money, I'm all for
it. Anyway, if there's a PE equivalent of Tamiya out there, I want some.
At this stage in my career I can live without Admiral Jellicoe's
ash-tray or other equally impressive embellishments. Recommendations
from wiser heads?
