Yes there where boats in the Atlantic.

I was just wondering if the allies had any submarines in the Atlantic or was it too much of a risk of a "friendly" fire incident. Anything that kills you doesn't sound very friendly to me no matter who takes the shot.

And you are absolutely right when you say that turning this boat into any other sub is a lot of work. I should know. I'm trying to turn mine into the Balao Class U.S.S. Pampanito.

A rust colored pastel stick was used for the weathering.  Basically I made two types of rust patterns.  The streaking pattern was made by applying the dust with a small pointed-edge brush, stroking straight down.  The bleeding pattern was made by appying the dust wth a Q-tip and rubbing it around in a circular pattern.  The key was to make any rusting subtle enough where you can't see it a few feet away, but it becomes very noticable up close-like on a real ship.

I used Eduards photo-etched set, which includes the mesh screen openings on the lower hull.
