Revell's Viking Ship Help
Posted by PritMar on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 10:42 AM

I just got The 1/50 scale kit and am having a problem knowing where the little deck piece (#10) for the bow (or maybe it is the stern, kind of hard to tell which is which) goes.

It obviously overlaps the main deck, but does it go under the main deck piece, lay on top of the main deck piece or is it higher than the main deck piece?

There are posts molded on the inside of the hull pieces and maybe the piece lies on these posts.  Would someone who has built this model please help?

You guessed right.  That part sits over the main deck, on the pins that are molded inside the hull.  (At least that's how I remember it; I built mine several years ago.)

It's a really nice kit, capable of being turned into a first-rate scale model with relatively little work and time.  Good luck.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

I have been looking at this ship everytime I got  to Hobby Lobby. I hope you post photos of your build. I would really enjoy seeing how this builds up.

Thanks for the replies. This will be the first model I have done since the 1960s. With my shaky hands, I doubt if it will be anything to look at. After I got married, everytime I sat down to work on a model I was asked why I was playing like a boy and not doing something useful like a man. I eventually just stopped. My wife is gone now and I decided to build a model.

Iragi, I found this at the Hobby Lobby in Vierra, FL. There were 3 on the shelf. I do not want to go to this store very often. There is a Five Guys Hamburger place in the same complex and I cannot afford too many of those.

JTilley, I actually got this because of you remarks on the other thread. The post on one side of the hull is well formed and the deck will glue to it with no problem. On the other side, it is a rounded off nub. I will probably have to build it  up with something.
