Go back a few months and you'll find another thread that I started about the same JPJ. kit . There were several different sources for that kit discussed in that thread as well. I liked the kit to. Bought myself one off of e-bay as a Christmas present.

Iron Shipwrights manufactures a beautiful 1/350 resin kit of the USS Forrest Sherman complete with PE.  They also manufacture a USS John Paul Jones (DDG-32). The FS sells for $139.00; the JPJ for $149.00.

I hope that it helps!

John Paul Jones was a Forest Sherman class Destroyer.  The kit was also sold as a Forest Sherman and Decatur.  The scale is 1/319.  I believe that you can still get a PE set for it from Gold Medal Models.  They turn up all the time on eBay.  There is no current production kit in plastic however, you may be able to find one in 1/700 and 1/350 from one of the resin makers.  I don't know what fit they might be in as this really isn't my area.   WS

Well, now here,s an interesting developement ! I was going through boxes in storage and I ran across the REVELL model (built). Does anyone remember of know what scale it is. I also found one I haven,t even built yet ! Now ,when I built this kit I thought it was really neat ! I will build the unbuilt model and I have been playing with P.E. to see what will fit .The reason I like this kit is it was the first kit of this class of U.S.N destroyer I had ever seen.  I believe this class of ship was one of the most beautiful examples of logical progression of designI have seen since I learned how to design things that float . Does anyone else make a kit of this particular type of U.S.NAVY ship?? If not what scale is it ??I read the box carefully and I could NOTfind a callout for the scale. Maybe I am blind in one eye and can,t see out of the other one. Maybe it,s just that I am over 60 ?? I will enjoy the memories that started to flood back when I ran into these ships. I will keep you posted in print.  tankerbuilder
