Zerstorer Finished!!
Posted by mstazz62 on Friday, February 18, 2011 4:24 PM

Greetings fellow modelers! I'm calling her done - and her she is:

Here she is next to my Prinz Eugen:

Well, it was a fun ride with no real problems. A good kit with nice detail, but no railings (Hi Manstein!) It did come with a couple of torpedos, but no mention of them in the instructions. I wanted to mount them on the deck ala IJN desroyers, but I was unable to find any reference as to how they would sit, or even if the Kreigsmarine carried them this way. Oh well, into the spares box! Thanks to all you guys for your support and help during my journey, and now back to my Prinz Eugen!!

Happy modeling!

Mark

Your destroyer is very cool, but the pic of the Prinz Eugene really grabbed my attention. Stick out tongue

I love your Trumpeter 1/350th scale German Zerstorer and want to marry it---even if it doesn't come with railings...by the way, what's up w/ Eugen in the background sans railings?

I just got this kit last month and paid $23.00.  Now THAT is a deal.  You did a nice job on her.  By the way does anyone know if there are PE sets available yet for this one?

Greetings fellow modelers! WOW - thanks for the replies guys! Praise from one's peers is truly humbling! I thank you all!!!

Oh, Manstein - my Prinz Eugen is FAR from finished, that's why no railings on the decks yet. There are some on the superstructure if you look closely. I'm using White Ensign Models P/E set for her and boy oh boy it's really, really nice! My only grip is it doesn't come with any gun sheilds for the AA. Go figure! I'll be posting pics of her progress soon.

Again, thank you all

Mark

Greetings!

I like the overall appearance and your craftsmanship is excellent!  My only constructive criticism is that the washes appear too heavy; I would suggest toning it down a little.  Otherwise, great job!

Manstein - I use uni-Canais fly tying thread for the rigging. You can order it from JSFlyFishing.com. It's only about a $1.00 to $2.00 a spool and it arrived in the mail in two days! Great stuff! Super thin and easy to work with. I got a couple of different weights (thickness) and I just love it. Much better than stretched sprue IMHO.

Thanks for your interest!
