I just ordered my copy, hopefully before the Italeri kit and upgrade set get here.

I'm really looking forward to reading it!

Well, if you'd email me offsite, just go to www.ptboatworld.com and click on CONTACT US ... I'll try and provide you with photos and I can only suggest that, if you want more info on these boats, get any of CDR. Bagnasco's books on MAS boats, they're sure to be extremely helpful.  The only drawback?  They're only in Italian.

Or, you could contact the Italian Navy's museum in Venice.  I'm a friend of its Commandant.

Does this help?

Al,

RESPECTFULLY?  May I ASK you to contact me via email IMMEDIATELY?  Please?

Everyone, please take note that I asked Mr. Ross to contact me in a civil manner and am not demanding that he contact me.

Al, I'll await your email.  Thank you.

Garth

If you intend to publish then be prepared for critiques of your work. Both favorable and unfavorable.

I think the crtiques are valid and it is appropriate an author calmly respond to them. Both  in forums and on Amazon where book reviews occur by the reading public.

What you wrote in the comments to one of the reviews reads as an emotional reply.

It is unprofessional for family members to defend the author.

No flaming Garth. I am working on a book of my own and expect a professional editor and subject matter expert to review it prior to publishing to minimize errors.

I suppose smaller publishing firms have limited editorial reviews.

Felix,

I'm not arguing with you, please understand that.

But, I, for my MAS book, I had my work checked by an author who had written books and articles on MAS boats, and each time he'd check it, I would be told I was doing a fine job and not to worry about it and he once told me that I should not worry about making errors "because all books have errors."

Mr. Ross seems to feel that editing and layout issues are somehow my fault as well.  I do not have any real control over how a publisher does a book's layout.  So, his comments on that, should not be a part of a review inasmuch I, as the author, cannot control that.

Felix, on a personal note?  To fully understand my indignation of over how Mr. Ross seems to relish knocking ANYTHING (and I do mean ANYTHING) that I do or have done for me, you'd need to have personal knowledge of the recent history between he and I.

My point being, sir, is that, I feel that, in regard to reviewing anything of mine, Mr. Ross is not exactly an unbiased reviewer and he allows his personal feelings toward me color his reviews and comments toward anything of mine.

In that light, I'd like to let you in on something ...

I always, always, always point people who come to me for "assistance" to ACF, Vol. II (and Vol. I) as well as the books which Mr. Ross did for PT BOATS, INC as well as his drawings.

I do this out of the respect that I have for his work, even though I believe (or know - however how one may want to look at it) that he does not respect me or my work.

Felix,

If you'd care to share, on what topic is your book?

Felix C.

Spanish Civil War naval operations.

I've seen very little on that topic, so it seems like it would be a welcome addition to the literature..  Are you doing this as an academic exercise or a personal interest activity?
