1956-57 vintage US Navy planes needed
Posted by manji99 on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 11:23 PM

I've got an old Revell kit of the USS Lexington, a "long-hull" Essex class carrier that I am slowly converting into the USS Hancock (CVA-19), and plan to give it to my father, who served on it. I'll be building a waterline display with a wooden base complete with a shelf to store his cruise book "Strike!" in. I need to find aircraft for the flight deck in the proper scale, which I'm not sure of at the moment. If need be, I could always make them of styrene stock.

Also, if anybody needs some pics from that cruise book, I can scan them and post. Lots of details from carrier operations circa 1956-57. I'll be giving the book back to him when I finish the model and give it to him, though.

Check StarfighterDecals http://www.starfighter-decals.com/resin-aircraft-for-aircraft-carrier-kits.html

They carry a number of aftermarket aircraft sets for old box scale carrier models

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed. Looks like the only plane I'll have to scratchbuild, if I want some to put on the flight deck, is the Vought Cutlass.

Again, thank you very much for this help.

I'm currently converting the old Revell kit of the Lexington into the Ticonderoga(CVA-14) its the sister ship of the Hancock, the Hancock actually was laid down as the Ticonderoga and the Tico was laid down as the Hancock but the names were switched half way thru the build ,LOL

I'm looking for A-3 Skywarriors, F3H Demons and a HUP helo for my model I did find some 25yrs ago in an old Revell Forrestal kit when I built the Tico for my father but now I'm building one for myself and need these aircraft for mine.

Is there anyone out there that could makesome resin copies of these aircraft I'm willing to pay any reasonable amout for them all I need is 2 A3's, 8 F3H's and 1 HUP helo

Thanks

I've found another supplier for aircraft for the old revell carrier kits the guys name is Matt Stein

Heres the link to his site he also has guns and gun directors for the same kits so you can get rid of those really bad 5" guns in the kits they are really great

http://smsm.us/

He's great to deal with and all of his stuff is really top quality
