I'm happy that they're making 1/350 submarines. With the onset of 1/350 carriers and and a variety of warships, it's nice to know that the silent service is lurking in the depths.

Well thats good news. I am in no hurry. I did pick up a Hobbyboss Type VIIA U-Boat and was pleasantly suprised by the kit contents. PE included and I paid about $13 for the little guy.

I have the AFV Club VIIC that comes with the Bieber (Beaver) mini subs. And I believe that cost me around $15 might want to get more. And Manny the AFV 1/350 I-58 would probably look good displayed with a 1/350 USS Indianapolis.

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron the only Squadron to get an Air to Air kill and an Air to Ground kill in the same week with only a F-15 http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Mikeym_us/

Yeah, but still looking for the '43 version w/ the cut-down superstructure...most of those that went on war patrols had the cut-down sail...

The '42 and '43 Gato's can be found on Ebay from overseas sellers. I had my eye on one but....Bang Head

Eurpoe must be getting theirs before the US markets because everywhere in the US the '43 version is a pre-order...

AFV subs are nice in general; I have their I-19 and it went together like a dream. They do have a mid-war boat that has just been released, but I would be wary of it at this point as one shop found their entire shipment had been boxed with a wrong tree. It had one of the post-war GUPPY II hulls from their "Leonardo Da Vinci" release (US Guppy IIa in Italian service).

Just got their I-58 w/ the Kaitens...love it...very nice moldings---crisp and detailed.

They also have the US Gato class, but the kits they have out are early war types w/o the cut-down conning tower that was typical of most of these types that saw service...I see advertised a '43 version coming out soon w/ the cut-down.  Does anyone know if there are any out now w/ the late-war conn???
