Schnellboot Finished! pic heavy
Posted by fermis on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 12:28 AM

This is Revells 1/72 Schnellboat (S-100) with Eduard PE, White Ensign torpedos, CMK mines and crew.

Markings are fictional, sexy mermaids! I scratched the radar array and mine trollies. I used MM and Testor enamels for everything. The flag decal has a piece of foil sandwiched in it, so it can be posed. This was the most time consuming and tedious projects I've done, in a long time! I'm glad to have this one off the bench!

The hook/poles were replaced with brass rod.

For the mermaids, I cut the shape out of masking tape, to make stencils.

The radar array was scratched with aluminum tube, brass rod, stretched sprue and some scrap mesh from the spares.

The mines came attached to big block/weights. I cut the mines free and stuck em in new trollies made from sheet styrene, wire, aluminum, thermo-formed styrene and used the spool and wheels from the set.

I have a few more ships in the line-up, so I'll be back shortly.....gotta go build a plane or two first!

Durnit Fermis now I am going to have to do both my S-100 and S-100 w/Flakvierling38 which means getting another Eduard PE set and Revel of Germany figure set not fair Crying LOL. Isn't it interesting that the Revell S-100 is gigantic compared to the Revell PT-109 kit?

Nice work!  That was one of the first kits I did after getting back into the hobby after a multi-decade 'vacation'.  I too used lead foil to sandwich between the main flag so it's posable.  You did a lot more weathering on yours than I did on mine.  It was a fun project, though.
