Yeah, and notice the yards are coated in black RAM. Clever, those Frenchies :-)

shoot&scoot Great work on this one! She looks like she's racing along even while just sitting there. How many oarsmen would a ship like this have had? Just curious. Pat.

Pat.
There are 61 rowing benches, each wide enough for at least two, maybe three, oarsmen. I was surprised by different number of oars on each side. Well, I guess you have to leave something for the steersman to do- keep him on his toes :-) Maybe a 30/31 split isn't enough to make that much of a difference. The galley area on the port side takes up the area of one bench.
very nice job

Here are a couple more WIP shots of my Heller Reale de France. Just starting the rigging.
I apologize for not thinking and shooting these shots against pine paneling, when I had finished the masts in a faux natural wood :-(
Having one problem with the rigging- the belaying pins are maybe slightly too small, and molding requires, I suppose a taper such that they taper to the ends. Hard in the more inaccessible areas to hook lines over those small, tapered pins to belay the lines. I will have to fake the pattern.
