This is going to be short and NOT so sweet . Those of you who have invested in the multiple kits within a kit i.e. TRUMPETER,S ARIZONA . BEWARE ! I have been using various mfgr,s. P.E. for close to twelve years now , and never had the problem I had this morning . The TRUMPETER detail up sets are nice and all that . YES , they are , UNTIL you get to the inclined ladders(Stairs to landlubbers) .I had to do three just for one location . WHY? Well , it seems that after I folded the rails up and then tried to set the stair treads at the proper angle , they just fell off ! YUP , the little connector thread of brass doesn,t seem to like being bent AT ALL !! SO , consider this a head,s up , if you are building faster than I . The brass comes wrapped skin tight in a plastic bag like material that is adhered to the brass. OH , for gosh sakes whatever you do DON,T try to cut the brass parts out through the plastic covers ! YUP , it,s on both sides of the brass frets . If you try to cut your parts through the plastic , even one layer , you will bend the daylights out of the stuff ! I went and ordered TOM,S set of 1/192 brass as most of it seems to fit . I will use the TRUMPETER parts where I can . I will use other brands for the rest of the vertical ladders and inclined ladders . I managed to get a workable ladder and it took bending it very slow , so slow , in fact one ladder that worked took all of five minutes . I can do a TOM,S , G.M.M. or EDUARD ladder in half the time and they don,t fall apart ! So watch your step with their brass on inclined stairs (ladders) and possibly the rails too . They too , are very tender as well . That,s it . I,ll get back to you on the morrow . I painted the decks and now it,s drying time . tankerbuilder
