AIRFIX,S 1/72 SEVERN CLASS LIFEBOAT

Well ,I gotta say , this model is shaping up very nicely . There were some issues with the multi- piece hull fit , but , it was easily fixed with gap filling super glue. And , I really didn,t have to use much of that . You need to be extra careful though .This boat , like their  VOSPERS are full of thinly molded rails and fiddley pieces that you might say , WHY ? I do believe that except for the POSIBILITY of REVELL,S- P.T.109 model that these are the cats meow on this type of vessel .I have both VOSPERS the one with the raised foredeck and the flushdeck . The closest in detail for size is the model , I believe , by HASEGAWA ? of the VOSPER of modern times .The LINDBERG PT BOATS have left me wondering WHY? They had the hull shape right in the small battery powered one and the next larger RC one What ere they thinking on the bug one . The bow is ALL WRONG . It looks like a ELCO TRANSOM and AFT QUARTERS grafted on to a HIGGINS FOREPART . This is , by the way a difficult fix too ! BACK to the SEVERN CLASS boat . The interior , or at least what you could see on "HOW its MADE" is correct near as I can tell . I have looked at the program numerous times during the build and it seems right . The hardest thing is the paint callouts . WHY ? well they are for HUMBROL. Do you know where to get some ?I didn,t till recently and I prevailed on my LHS to give me the color translations  and I matched them to TESTORS - MODELMASTER line of paints . Just wanted to let you know , If you have been contemplating this kit , but , you weren,t sure of AIRFIX/HORNBY,S accuracy and quality this kit at least belays the worry .       tankerbuilder    P.S. I believe that I will swap ALL the rails on all those boats to brass . It looks more in scale .
