I figured as much, but stuck on the safe side.
I have many books and my Lair smells of rich mahogany!!! Stay thirsty my fellow MOJOs!
TD4438 This burnt umber wash,is it something you whip up yourself?Or is it a particular product?

It's something you make yourself, basically very thin paint that goes in the crevices of the kit. Combined with dry-brushing or other weathering styles, it brings out more detail. The only catch is that you have to use a different kind of paint(acrylic vs. enamel) so you don't destroy the paint job. If you look through the tips and techniques section, you should find all you need to know.
Never too late to give it a light burnt umber wash to tone down the colors and then some judicious dry brushing to highlight some of the details. Just a thought, but like I said before it came out pretty nice as is.
Pat.
Thanks. Two yards for just the camo is probably getting close.I had to retape the entire boat each time for the hull camo, waterline and hull bottom.Major, major PITA!!!
BTW,I think I should have used darker colors for the whale boats.Seemed like a good idea at the time. Now,I'm not so sure.
Ditto on what Nav said about the tape and maybe even low-ball estimate. Looks like it came out pretty nice.
Don't know why nobody's commented yet, so, nice OOB build of an old classic. I would estimate about 2yds. of tape for the camo.
I built 95% of this kit many moons ago when I was in a mood to build, not paint. That decision became a colossal PITA when I decided to finish her.I'd love to know how many feet of tape I used.
