Thanks you for your comments. My next WW1 ship, the Scharnhorst, will be in tropical white and buff.

Watchmann

Looks great so far Bondoman.  I've have the Emden and Dresden in my stash.

What is your opinion on the wood-grain texture on the decks; over scale?

I think it's fine. By the time I have the boats all aboard, there won't be much left to see. I painted it a base color and drew in random planks with a ruling pen in shades of brown. Apparently SMS ships had a 200mm or so high base in the same red as the linoleum deck running around the base of the superstructures, but as Clint said,

"a man has to know his limitations".

The Combrig Scharnhorst may be another story. But the resin deck has very very fine planking cast into it, truly a beautiful kit.

Looks great!

I built the Emden, and it is the pride of my fleet. Yes, it is a great kit (only flaw was the fit of the main gun turrets). I also used the WE PE set. I did mine in the pre-war (White) livery.

This kit is everything it's reputed to be. I've only added the WEM PE set. I do plan to scratch build the 4.1 inch guns and shields, the only part of the kit that's a little sub par.
