Is there a kit available for the U.S.S. Kearsage.....the steamer that sunk the Alabama. Revell had a beautiful C.S.S. Alabama kit that my son built and we were wondering if the Kearsage was out there somewhere or in the works? Thanks, JoeBig Smile [:D]

Revell had the Kearsage out back in the '70s I believe. Same time they came out with the Alabama. Back then Revell had several great ships, now?

ebay has both the Kearsarge and Alabama on the block, but be expected to pay dearly. I've seen both ships run between $100.00 and $250.00. A 1960's Kearsarge went for $436.00. These are nice kits and yes, they are almost identical. There is an article about the differences btween the two kits and how you can make either one the Kear. or Ala. on this website. I did a google search a while back and also found a lot of information on both ships and their differences.

The Kearsarge was released in 1961, then the moulds were altered to Alabama. so you will not see the Kearsarge again, Neither model is very accurate.
But, If you look at plans of the two ships, you will see that the Alabama is actually a better model of the Kearsarge .
So, if you want a Kearsarge, buy another Alabama!!!!.

Thanks for the help, we will check out those sites and will see if we can locate one and remodel it to the Kearsage if we can't find an original at a fair price! Wink [;)] Joe
