The old Monogram kit (the simple build) at 1/220 scale is slightly smaller than the Revell kit (it is currently being sold by Revell-Germany as the "United States" in 1/150; suffice to say, wrong). Be forewarned, this represents the ship as she appears today, but has plenty of potential.

Adrian,

I just measured the hull of my 1/196 scale USS Constitution by Revell. The keel measures just over 9 inches. It measures 10 inches at the longest point from stem to stern.  The bowsprit does in fact give the additional length to15.5 inches.  It seems that you are looking for the Revell kit.

I hope it helps!

Question on Various Constitution Kits
Posted by Tnonk on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 10:48 PM

I've been looking for a Kit of the frigate Constitution with a hull length of 10" or so (I'm not sure of the exact size but it was around 10") and have checked out several kits but haven't found anything on it.

I thought it might have been the Pyro but from what I've found from talking with a seller on ebay, it appears to be only 4 1/2".  The small Lindberg & Life Like kits are the same kit as the Pyro.

Would the 1/192 - 1/196 Revell kit be close, it lists a length of 15 1/2" but I'm not sure how much of that would be the bowsprit.

Or perhaps the old Aurora kit would be another option?

Anyone know which kit would be the closest match?

Thanks for any info.

Adrian
