Pretty decent for a first effort - what materials/methods did you use?

I like the water.  Confused seas with light or no wind it seems (glass like surface).  I agree with onyxman; add some wash around the ship and airplane and you are good to go.  Do not add too much though, remember no wind.

The photos are too dark to tell much.  A ship at anchor with the sea running as much as it seems to be here will have some wash around it.

I just tried my first water base myself, after being timid about it for years.  Funny, thing, I also used an old model of a Japanese cruiser!  Mine is 'Tone'.

Just wondering what you guys think.  This is my first try at modeling water for ship dioramas.  The ship is an old WWII Japanese light cruiser that I built quite a while ago, so it would be my subject. Wink The diorama measures ~8"x12".

The lighting kind of makes it look like sunrise, or sunset.

What do you think?  When I get the chance, I'll try this on some of my more recents ship builds...

I play World of Tanks! (Yeah, I'm a dork)If anybody has one of those kits with the WoT coupons inside, I'll be happy to take them off of your hands!   :-)
