I think the answer is she didn't have one- At this date the tiller would most likely have been moved using a whipstaff rather than a wheel (the latter becoming common in the early 18th century)

I don't want to re-ignite the debate about Heller's controversial kit, but do bear in mind that much of the detail of the kit is based on an unfinished 19th century model of Soleil Royal- and consequently one of the areas where detail is lacking on both this model and Heller's rendition is in the deck furniture. Does anyone know where the ship's wheel is located?

I have looked at various pictures and cannot see it anywhere.

 

I assume even the French steered their ships.
