I found what looks to be an older Perry class frigate kit at a local hobby shop. Not finding much on the web.Any info would be great.

The kit is the same as the Blue Water Navy Kit and the Yankee Modelworks kit.  It is a very nice resin kit.  Inspect it carefully to make sure it is all there as it has to have been on the shelf for a LONG time.

Gulfstream was originally done by John Ficklen.    John was the first to commercially produce resin & brass ship models.  That kit is probably 20 to 30 years old.   Ficklen produced several kits,  your Perry,  the Bainbridge,  Type VII and Type iX German subs,  Atlanta cruiser.   For a while they were cast by Iron Shipwrights,  Eventually the kits were transferred to Mike Bishop of MB Models/Blue Water Navy.    And then on to John Sheridan/Chris Decker of Yankee Modelworks.

EDIT - I obtained an old first-run Bainbridge.     The included PE was done in stainless steel and was really rough compared to the current state of the art.    I contacted Yankee and bought a replacement set that accompanies their current Bainbridge release.    I cast resin copies of the white metal parts.

Yankee is selling the PE from their recent issue Perry as an aftermarket item to support the Academy Perry.    You could probably contact Yankee to purchase a replacement set.    As far as other replacement fittings, I know that Yankee wants to see a copy of the instruction sheet to verify that you bought their product before doing an outright parts replacement.    You may run into some issues if there are missing parts if you are seeking to go that route.    Another option would be using the Academy or Iron Shipwright Perrys as parts sources.      Iron Shipwright offers the decal sheet which accompanied their short-hull Perry for individual purchase and Hawk Graphics sells a decal sheet of the world operators of Perrys.

Any idea what a fair price for this older kit would be? I looked in the box and it appeared to be brass etch.

The MSRP for new issue Perrys from YankeeModelworks is 120 bucks.  Freetime Hobbies has them for sale at 97.    If you're looking to make an offer,  80 to a hundred bucks would seem fair.

If you're looking to sell, remember that the Academy kits (40 for the basic,  65 for the limited edition) are the competition.

There really isn't any collectible value

Were the Gulfstream Atlanta/Juneau four piece hull kits as some of the early BWN?

Just would like to add, having worked closely with John Ficklen, Mike Bishop, et. al., on these early resin/PE model kits:

My small company, Insight Designs, did all the brass photoetch work for John, Mike, MB Models, Blue Water Navy, Yankee Modelworks, GMM and many other US based ship, sub, car, airplane and railroad kits. But that was when the PE in the kits was made in the US.  Cheers.
