These Hasegawa ship kits are a real treat. Every one is familiar with the Mikasa, I also have the Soya in my stash. There's the Akagi, and the various battleships and battlecruisers. It's usually a little hard to sort out the PE as Hasegawa includes a set, and the aftermarket guys don't always risk putting out a companion set.
I think that they are very special, and unique. Releases are rare and very very expensive, but model ship guys, grab them when you see them. I paid the same amount for the Trumpeter Hornet, and it's a good kit, as I did for the Mikasa, but the Hasegawa kit is just special. A really high quality box, excellent casting detail, brass barrels, PE and a figure of Admiral Togo.
If I ever saw this kit on sale I'd buy it. The Hikawa Maru is historically significant, having had a number of sailings evacuating Jewish people from Europe.
