Academy "Limited Edition" Bismarck/Tirpitz Available
Posted by EBergerud on Thursday, September 22, 2011 3:30 PM

A place called Relish Models in the UK (http://www.relishmodels.co.uk/) as of this morning is offering the Academy 350 scale "special edition" kit of both Bismarck and Tirpitz. Like their Graf Spee you get, in theory at least, a lot of extras: PE, wooden deck, 32 brass barrels. Assuming Relish removes VAT the kit should go for $70 not including shipping. Google shows no other English speaking vendor offering this. Personally, I refuse to build a Bismarck, but others seem to have different views.

A model boat is much cheaper than a real one and won't sink with you in it.

Build a Tirpitz. That sounds like a kit I would be interested in.

Hmm, that is cheap for the Tirpitz/Bismark with all the trimmings. I have the premium Graf Spee ( and the extras do look really nice, including the deck) and I think it went for almost $100. Hope to see this at some other retialers like Freetime.

It was anounced by Academy as an anniversary release in early 2010.

The old Academy is very soft in detail even compared to the old Tamiya, not to say the newer Revell. Unless it is a new tooling kit, I am not interested.

It is also released in Europe. Link.

It may make it to the US someday.
