Finally complete and ready for delivery...

I found a source to replace the 50 year old decals.  By the way, I have an extra decal sheet, so if anyone needs them, send me your name and address and I'll drop them in the mail.

The case is made of oak and clear acrylic sheet (0.093").  The size scared me a bit at first, but the canopy is surprisingly sturdy.  The oak corner trim is non-structural to the canopy and completely cosmetic, affixed to the acrylic with a thin bead of clear silicone.  The base piece is the heaviest piece.  The finish is natural oak, with a few coats of satin polyurethane.

I really enjoyed this build.

Thanks for looking!

Nice model. You did an excellent work on the construction. If you made the display case, please tell us how you put together this case. I will make a case for a model that I have near completion, but I do not know to make a sturdy case for display.

Montani semper liberi.    Happy modeling to all and every one of you.

Crackers,

I can send you a PDF file with some rudimentary instructions on how I made the display case.  Let me know where to send it.

I have a BIG question for you . Did you have the pre-painted metal decks to use ? If so did you use them or use something else ? The reason I ask is ,I have the ship and I am missing the foredeck . That,s the only reasonmine sits unbuilt.   tankerbuilder .    P. S. That is a very nice looking job as well as the well crafted case . WELL DONE !   You can reach me at  gjgeracci@satx.rr.com
