Thanks for the comments Gents. Much appreciated. Judging by the Parts Manny, it is a very old Tooling. Mould slippage abounds and details are spartan. The only modern part of the Kit was the inclusion of a Pitroad generic Weapons Sprue, which I used to replace most of the weaponry.....Cheers Mark

Manstein's revenge

Nicely done---I almost got one of these.  Typically these kits have nice detail.  I wonder if it is an old mold?

Pitroad is re-releasing their Unryu class (can't remember if it comes with PE like their recent re-releases), which is a much better base model of the class compared to Aoshima's old tool. Price-wise of course..about 2-3x would be the expectation.

Aoshima tooling is very sparse on detail, 70'esque and not accurate.

Rhanks Tigerman. I think she the Sistership of the Unryo. If so, this Class was built after the Hiryu and Soryu and I think about the same Tonnage if not slightly smaller .....Cheers Mark

That's sweet. I love the deck camo. Never seen this guy built up. Isn't this kind of an improved Hiryu class?

I was given this Kit to build by a Friend and to say the Kit was Detailed and Good fitting was a huge misnomer. Fit was terrible and the detail was very spartan. When I did the Flightdeck, the Markings came as Decals. They would shatter when placed and Decal Solution was used. I strupped the Deck and did the Camo the old fashioned way. Masking Tape and Patience. She is finally done sans rigging. Any C and C's are most welcome.....Mark
