( thats HOBBYLINC USA not Hobby link JAPAN )

If so check your status!

Hi Gang!

Remember how I made a big deal about getting that new Revell OG 1/72 scale U-BOOT for only 16.99 back in August of 2003 ....and I even got letters stating that my pre order price will NOT change NO MATTER WHAT!

Well at that rate I went ahead and added a second on my list for a Pal of mine for xmas....( I was thinking ...well maybe in time for Dec if not Jan ) ....no biggie....turns out it could take MONTHS for the VII C kits to hit the U.S. shores...no sweat...I have other projects and Steve 'qtan' got a card with a picture of the U-BOOT under the tree.....

OK

So once in a while I check my order status to see if there have been any changes.....nope!....the last several months its been 2 kits at 40.88 total with shipping....COOL!

THEN!

Tonight when I looked....it said 44.00 each at 80.40 TOTAL!!

AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

SO!

I sent them a quick HELLO! ( nice and cival like ) asking if there has been a mistake made on my order, with all the UP DATES they have sent me and the two e-mails from them stating that MY COST WILL NOT CHANGE!

So we will see what happens!

They can't possibly have that many kits that were pr-ordered at that crazy low price?.....and they SHOULD honor peoples original prices!

I have been told that those e-mails to me are binding....I wonder?

I will keep you'all informed.

Troy.

Bad news for me. I did the pre order back in August of 03 also, & printed out the kit info/ price page. I noticed the recent price increase & called to confirm that my pre order price would be honored. I was told that Revell Germany increased the price & that Hobbylinc would lose money if they sold the kit at the pre order price. Bottom line: No, my pre order would not be honored. After all this waiting I had to cancel the order. I am new to modeling with only two kits under my belt, so perhaps I am a bit naive, but Im a bit disappointed with Hobbylinc. Unless someone here can tell me that this happens a lot or that Hobbylinc is really a good place to shop, I doubt I will do business with them in the Future.
Best of luck to you Papa Echo & smart move on the E-mail coonfirmation.

Revell has increased the price of that item. Unfortunately they have increased the price more than the covered buffer of 25% increase. If you would like to cancel your order due to the higher price please let us know.

At least they gave you the option to opt out. I'm still trying to get out of a deal with Great Models.

I had a feeling that price was not going to be honored.
And I am not referring just to Hobbylinc. Probably all
the places that had it for $17.00 or so have raised the
price to around $40.00. I have one pre-ordered for $41.65
at Great Models. It's actually a pretty good price as the
local shop wants $109.00 CDN. Gadzooks!

I sent this instead:

Hello Hobbylinc,

I'm sorry that the Revell kit cost were higher than anticipated.

I am also confused why you will not honor your previous payment arrangement that was made eight months ago, it is not unusual for a business to absorb costs whem a mistake is made to keep up good customer relations.

I stated in my original e-mails that I thought that the final cost for this kit could be twenty to fourty dolllars more for this kit and you replied that "my cost will not change" so I accepted that as truth.

I hope that we can work this out.

Thank you for your attention on this matter.

Troy.

Its not like they held that price till now!.....they have been upping it here and there since then.

You need to call and talk to a human, ask for the sales manager, it may take a few tries, but keep on it. They may make a special exception just for you. These negotiations never work out through e-mail.

When I was that price, I knew it was a case of something that was too good to be true. I e-mailed them last fall, and asked what their price change policy was. They told me then that if the price change was 10% or less, they'd honor the pre-order price. Since rumours were already circulating that Revell was going to up the MSRP, I figured pre-ordering at $18 would be waste of time.....

Sigh [sigh]If you ordered via the internet from an ad on the internet, you are pretty much stuck!Thumbs Down [tdn]

If you ordered via snail mail from a mailorder catalog you may have some recourse, as this may constitute a "contract." I will depend on whether the catalog or offer contained a provision that "all bets were off" if the mfgr's or distributor's price to the dealer exceeded a certain amount or percentage.

At any rate, you might think the dealer would want to retain customer satisfaction and assume the loss, rather than alienate all those who ordered (unless he'd go bankrupt!)Angry [:(!]

I agree with you but I was told at my last attempt "They can not honor my promised price"

To bad....

Here is one letter I recieved from Hobbylinc:

Currently that is the price that the manufacturer has informed us of. Preordering would get that price regardless of future price increases.

Subject: Revell og Germany KIT Question

Howdy!

Your listed price for the future realease of Revell of Germany's 1/72 scale U-BOAT is $22.00 I believe... .......Is that KIT really going to be that low?......I was thinking around 40.00 to 60.00 U.S. Dollars?

Thank you!

No need to be rude.

They advertised a price....So at two seperate occations I questioned the price once before placing my order and a second time shortly after and two different times they say YES and there will be NO change to my price. My monthly updtaes sent to me did not change...though the price gradually went up...I thought that they would honor my deal.

Sounded OK to me.

I cancelled my order.....It makes more sence to support my local Hobby Store anyways!

An update:

The word filtering about is that the model will be in distributors hands within the next two weeks. This from one of the places that I placed an order with.

Supplies may be limited, and the next shipment may not be available til May...
