REVELL/GERMANY- model of the PREDATOR-108 MOTORYACHT

For those of you who do ,from time to time, build yachts, this is for you specifically.  This is a very nicely molded model . Flash and such are minimal .The one I got was badly warped and but simple to fix.The hull is two pieced with the transom , and aft swim platform being seperate parts . The ARNESON surface drives are the nicest I,ve seen on a scale model .The interior is quite nice ,BUT, if you follow the paint callouts it will be very dark and hard to see through the smoke colored windows . I lived on a houseyacht for years and I tell you from personal experience DON,T, MOBILE HOME it ! They suggest "mud brown" for most of the decks and vertical surfaces inside . NO WAY !  ,It would be like looking into a very dark cave ! They even have you paint some of the inside horizontal surfaces gloss BLACK ! A yacht must be inviting and comfortable looking as well as bearable to be aboard .Therefore Go with lighter well matched colors .I chose oak decking and two tone darker green surfaces on the sofas and seats .Light wood color dominates throughout and these make it POP. The outside is interesting in the pattern of the painted areas .They have you do it in dark gloss blue and white and a flat black waterline color .I would suggest changing it to what you like .WARNING , although it goes together fairly well this is NOT a kit for beginners .I had to make adjustments and cut to fit on many of the parts and that was even following the instructions ! They have the inner bulwark pieces seperate and the aft stair trim piece port and starboard are a bear to get to fit . This is a little difficult and the aft bulwark pieces had to be trimmed to fit .There were no gaps though ! Well, that,s it in a nutshell , any who build he r, enjoy.         tankerbuilder
