Worked fine for me .By the way did you know that the COAST GUARD or DEPT .of the interior sold some boats that were supposed to be bouy tenders (decommissioned ) At least that is what I was told . I bought one that had sat for over seven months at a pier in SAN DIEGO .I bought her .She appeared to be a bouytender alright and she was in pretty fair shape. I converted her to a liveaboard . I miss her .I don,t know who owns her now , but I understand she had been cut down to be a workboat in the PHILLIPINES . All I can say is DAMN . Even if she never saw CG service she sure looked like the BRAMBLE. Who knows .It,s water over the dam .I am an invalid now and my missus is in a nursing home .We sure loved that boat though .              tankerbuilder

Thanks Mike M.

I certainly am, this quarter IPMS Club newsletter will be dedicated to the Coast Guard, so by all means please send me a PM for contact info.

Thanks

Cookies and history won't fix the issue; he needs to clear his browser cache.

  • Cache - temporary storage if website files including pages, graphics, and images.
  • Cookies - used by many (but not all) sites to uniquely identify each user. Used for customization or tracking
  • History - essentially a list of the web sites or pages the computer has visited in the last X days/weeks/months depending on settings.

There is also the possibility that he is running into a proxy server issue; some internet providers will build servers that hold their own cache of sites that the provider's customers hit. This saves them money; rather than pay for the bandwidth usage of 100 users hitting CNN.com, they just pay for one and serve the same pages out. However, if miss-configured, it will obviously cause issues if it's not sending out the latest page. Proxy server issues are more annoying to deal with as either you or him has to track down a technical contact and then request they get someone to work on it. Sometimes finding someone interested enough isn't easy.

Hey,

John Kennedy suggested the Coast Guard develop a more distinctive look in 1960.  It only took 7 years for us to develop those racing stripes, which appeared on cutters and aircraft in 1967.  We're a little slow sometimes.  But now several police forces and foreign coast guards have copied it.

subfixer, i thought it was pink stripes with purple polka dots?

I believe that you'll find those markings on boats off of Fire Island, NY.

Other than a few orange racing stripes, it looked good to me, too. Whistling

I think maybe the gentleman in question needs to clear out his cookies and browser history? It works fine and the way it should for me.

I have an unusual request.  As some of you know, I have created a website resource for anyone interested in modeling the US Coast Guard.  I recently gave the site a major overhaul and republished it.  I now have a gentleman telling me I have 2 websites, the original and the updated.  This is not possible.  The website is on a self hosted network on a PC in my bedroom.  When I make a change I delete the old page and insert the new one.  The old page does not exist anymore and should not be accessible.  I request that you guys (even if you are not interested in the Coast Guard) just click onto my link www.coastguardmodeling.com

and tell me what you see.  You should see a page that says “This is THE site…” with rotating images of some of my models.  You should not see a page that says “Greetings” and ends with a change history with Ray Bean as the last entry.  E-mail me your answer. I just want to make sure this thing is working right.  Thanks for the help!
