Nichimo 1/500 scale ships
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, January 31, 2004 10:47 AM
I've been looking at a couple of ships put out by Nichimo in 1/500 scale. Specifically the Ise, Chokai, and Maya. Has anyone built any of these kits?
Has anyone built ANY of the Nichimo kits in this scale? If so, are they any good?

I have. I've built the Ise, Hyuga, Nagano, Hiryu, and Yamato in this scale. They are pretty good kits that go together fairly well. Detail is sometimes a bit sparse but that is usually remedied with AM parts. I didn't put any on my ships because I don't know who puts out AM and PE parts for these kits. One of the only real difficulties is the fit between the main deck and the superstructure that is meant to remain loose to gain access to the motor/battery holder inside. But if you're building strictly a shelf model, then you should be able to glue that down without any problems.

I personally liked then, and have been trying to save my money to get more. Enjoy!
