I built that up a few years ago for a review and it's a lovely kit. You can almost build it without glue, the fit is that precise. Rigging the multiple antenna lines is "interesting" but well worth the effort. There was some minor issue with the railings around the intake trunk on the sail, but that was it. When first released it was a bit pricey for the size of the ship, but it is as close to perfect as you can get. I've seen the "deluxe" version with the photo etched railings and all going for a reasonable price these days. Yes, get one and enjoy. Big Smile

I am new to modeling have chosen submarines as my first subjects. I like them because they are relatively simple compared to other kits(armor, ships motorcycles). This kit looks to be a step up in skill level from what I have been building, but I will definitely add it to my list of future builds. I viewed your link and the photos there give a much better idea of the quality build you have done. If you have any comments about this kit and the building experience I would enjoy reading about it. Nice work and thanks for sharing the photos.

Just finished Tamiya's 1/350 i400 Japanese sub.  Mostly working on painting techniques.  I did a better job of shading and dry brushing.  Lots of photos published on http://littleplasticparts.tumblr.com/  All comments, suggestions and followers are welcome!  Stay sane felllow modelers.
