You guys are not giving enough credit to the amphibious navy that won the war. There are kits for many of the ships and boats.

APA -Montrose by Revell

LSD - by Lundberg (I believe)

LCVP - Italeri

LCM - Italeri

LCU

Amphibious Truck

Everybody seems to be going with the big guns.  I prefer the smaller ships.

1.  Elco 80' PT

2. S-100 clas Schnellboot

3.  Fairmile D

Yes, three patrol boats for getting up close and personal.

4.  LCVP

5.  AKIZUKI class destroyer

6.  NARVIK class destroyer

7. 205' ATF fleet tug

8.  USCG 327' SECRETARY Class - TANEY was at Pearl Harbor on Dec 7; later carried four 5"/38 in single turrets.  Others in the class hunted U-boats in the Atlantic.

9.  PCE/PCER - 174' Patrol Craft Escorts

2. USS Saratoga CV3 - Always in the background or on the sidelines.

3. HMS Glowworm - The last act of defiance.

4. HMS Warsprite - Just because it was old and British

6. IJNS Shinano - Result when engineering is trumped by politics

7. Prinz Eugen - Another ship that seemed to beat the odds and had nice lines.

8. Gneisenau - Got the kit real cheap

9. PT73

New Orleans Class cruisers. They formed the heavy front line of gun ships in the first year of the Pacific war, fought at point blank range with the Japanese battleships at Savo island, were horribly bloodied but covered themselves in valor.

CA-38 was the second most decorated ship of the war. CA-32 and CA-36 were third/ fourth.

Incredibly good looking, without those ugly tripod masts, and a jaunty raked bow and stacks.

Trumpeter's San Francisco is a fine model.

I'm nominating the under-appreciated Flower Class Corvette and Liberty Ships - those convoys won the European war...
