Italeri 1/35 S.L.C. 200 Maiale
Here's where I am. I finished the sled up, except that it needs a
little weathering. They were practiced with quite a bit before the
actual mission.
The crew have a base coat of rubber, two lighter coats to highlight
the wrinkles, and a base coat of dark brown flesh. Still a lot of
painting to do there.
On December 3, 1941 the MAS Decima Flottiglia raided Alexandria
Harbor with three manned torpedoes, attaching mines to the battleship
HMS Queen Elizabeth, the cruiser HMS Valiant, the Norwegian tanker
Sagona and the destroyer HMS Jervis.
The crew that mined the Valiant was forced to surface and captured
where they were interned in the hold! Unable to convince their captors
that the ship was mined, they somehow survived the explosion, but three
ships were sunk, Jervis badly damaged and the other two crews captured
as well.
