Youse is a awesome boat builder , dude !!!That is one beautiful piece of work .I will , take you to task though .You did a nice a nice job on weathering , BUT , along the waterline it looks like rust .Sorry , the boats were wood ! I would tone the strip of grunge with a little black wash to look more like grungy moss and sea grass on a wood boat in the western pacific . Other than that hit I picked , I just absolutely approve at the way you brought her to life .I noticed detail down the hatches , was it aftermarket  ? or did it come with the kit OR even better yet did you create the novel peeks below ? I am just glabberfasted with your level of work .       tankerbuilder

Bob,

Thanks for the kind words on the PT Build!  If you are looking for PT references I highly recommend Al Ross's 1/35 PT plans - they were a big help!  In particular the plans outline the relatively few innaccuracies in the kit - the rudder shape and engine cover deadlights, and torpedo rack positions are probably the most visible.

For stowage - take a look at Royal Models.  The rope bumpers came from Thach productions.

Take care,

John

John, that is some seriously nice work.  I've got the big Elco in the stash and in fact just ordered the LionRoar super detail set.  You've got me thinking now about getting some stowage.  I think, after seeing it on your build, it looks great and really brings the model to life.  Congratulations on a great job.  Hope mine comes out half that good!  I'll definitely be using your work for reference.

Hi all,

I've just finished my PT-579 - see the pics in the attached link!

The model is the 1/35 Italeri kit, with Archer Fine Transfers, Lion Roar Photo Etch, some Royal Models stowage, and some of my own work.
Please note the correct rudders, and the open forward compartment!
Take care,
John
