Still waiting for a Colorado class or Tennessee class battleship. What do the modeling Gods have against them?

Be careful what you wish for! Wink

Bismarck is interesting - Clearly Trumpeter had the success they were looking for with Arizona and we can expect more popular ships in this scale. I'm guessing Hood will make an appearance at some point, but after that it's more of a crap shoot.

Nothing on the "must have" list. I am happy to see more kits that are not 'more of the same thing', but at the same time I would would much rather see Falklands War Modern British warships such as a Type 42 Destroyer or Type 21 Frigate over the PLAN stuff or the HMS Kent.

The HMS Navy is so poorly represented in the model world, anything is welcome, Kent included. I am still hoping for a Tribal class WW2 destroyer in 1:350 or larger scale.

Well Airfix has a forthcoming Type 45 Destroyer, HMS Daring, plus they recently issued a Trafalgar Class SSN and HMS Illustrious in 1/350. Along with Bronco's Vanguard Class SSBN, the Modern Royal Navy has pretty good coverage. I would like to see more Cold War 1/350 RN subjects as they were one of the few to get in to an actual shooting war.

Maybe I'm greedy but I'd really, I mean REALLY like to see a 1/72nd USS Samuel B. Roberts (DE-413)

aka the "DE that fought like a battleship" while serving with TAFFY-3 in the battle off Samar.

I ask myself "why not"!  We have the 1/72nd Flower Class...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the happy recipient of RoG's 1/144th Fletcher...

All the best

Been waiting for a USS Texas (BB-35) for years. The only one out there that I know of is the Samek Models Resin kit, but I don't want a Texas model badly enough to spend $80-100+ on one!

I play World of Tanks! (Yeah, I'm a dork)If anybody has one of those kits with the WoT coupons inside, I'll be happy to take them off of your hands!   :-)

Ditto Been waiting for an injection USS Texas BB-35 in 1/700 for some time as well.  Also need USS Texas SSN-775 to round-out the collection that starts with the ironclad CSS Texas.

That 1/200 Bismarck seems interesting and I'd imagine that the HMS Hood will follow too.  Maybe we'll even get a 1/200 Iowa class.  I'd like to see 1/350 Rodney/Nelson in plastic, as well as cold war/modern RN like HMS Hermes and Type 42/22/23 surface ships.

Interesting to see that Trumpy is diving in to the 1/200 market.  I'd suspected that if the 1/200 Arizona did well in the market we'd start seeing more ships in that scale.  Only problem with capitol ships in that size is the space they require to display.  But, as many of us age and even 1/350 becomes more difficult for us to manage, we may seem more and more offerings in 1/200.

Personally, I'd rather see more DDs, perhaps even some DEs, in 1/144, or even 1/192.  They don't take up quite as much shelf space, but make very impressive displays.  I will be interesting to see who else jumps on the 1/200 band wagon in the next couple of years, and with what offerings.

I agree with Tigerman . . . I would love to see any of the second generation US Battleships. But, I would also love to see any of the same generation British, and Italian battleships as well.  As for the battleship USS Texas, check out the 1/350 ISW kit; it is spectacular!

Keilau,

Actually, the Royal Navy is one of the better represented navies in the modeling world, especially given the several new releases by Academy and (upcoming) Trumpeter.  Granted, there are few RN modern ships out there, but there are more battleships than any navy except the IJN.  And, Airfix has released several contemporary RN ships in 1/350 and 1/600 scales.

The modern USN is perhaps the best represented overall, but there are huge gaps there as well.  Let's face it, there is still a lot of room in which the manufacturers can grow!
