MFSOB...I'm amazed on the quality of detail that modelers can get on a 1:700 scale. I feel lucky with 1:72. Look forward to seeing your finshed project.

I'm getting ready to tackle a Gato as well, but in 1/700 - palm-sized sub, anyone?

I'm no expert on ship models, but that looks very nice to me. I know thats one impressive kit. I bought the revell 72nd U-boat just before xmas. Someone posted a pick of the same kit i hade bought, completed, next to a completed GATO. I could believe how big the GATO was next to the u-Boat, which looked tiny next to it. It was only because i had the u-boat next to me i realised how big it is.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Thanks for sharing the link fright. One of my uncles served aboard a Gato Class Sub. I'm planning to build the large Gato and make the conversions to his sub as soon as I can find out which one he served on. Haven't had any luck so far. I need his sons signature to have the info released and he's not interested (so far). I'm still bugging him to fill them out.

ST SkyFalcon....many thanks. I started this "project" early in Dec, 2011 and this model is awesome. It inspired me to try building an AP Troop Transport ship from WWll. My dad was a pharmacist mate on the TH BLiss on his way to Guam. Here is that website that has 81 photos. Best to you!

I am building the same Model I would like to have the site where you found all of thoes color pictures they would come in handy for me as well.

The build that you have done looks outstanding I like the idea of the broom.  Signafiying a clean sweep.

Thanks for letting me know about photos. Much appreciated!  I started off with the idea of the USS Crevalle, but almost all color scheme has come from pictures of the USS Pampanito in SF Bay. I found a site that had 81 detailed color photos of topside and interior. All in color!

Looks fine so far. Are you building a particular boat?
