Yankee Modelworks offers a 1945 USS Iowa resin and photoetch conversion set, much of which can be used as a basis for a 1944 USS New Jersey. I am in the middle of a conversion to the 1943 USS New Jersey with the open bridge using the old Tom's Modelworks 1/350 conversion set. The only issue that I have with it is that I have only been able to find pictures of her in Measure 21 camouflage, which is d*@#$d dark.
Anyway, check out the Yankee Modelworks set.

Iron Shipwright offers a decal set of WWII hull numbers in black & vibrant white. Shaded numbers are a pre- and post-war thing.
As far as a name for the stern -- don't worry about it. The raised welded-on letters were painted over during the war. Seeing a piece of quarter-inch thick steel in 1:350 scale will take a good pair of magnifiers.
If you must, apply some rub-on letters of appropriate size, then paint them over with the hull color
