Thanks guys. It seems that there is several possibilities out there. I will probably try the humbrol paint first. Perhaps when (if) I ever finish this little project I will post some pics. Something I have never done before.

Use Badger Model Flex Marine Colors, 16-405 Deck Tan; it's an almost perfect match for Spar (Buff) FS 10371.  The Model Flex line is airbrush ready, so it may take a few coats with a bristle brush.

Dumas recently released a 1:16 scale wood model of the 36' MLB; they recommend Polly Scale Railroad Union Pacific Armoiur Yellow as the proper color.  They included stick on mylar decals for the 36500 from Chatham; the 36498 from Port Orford; and the 36473 from Fort Point (Presidio at San Francisco).

I remember using "SPAR" when painting rails on Coast Guard 41' UTBs. Start with Tan or Dark Tan and slightly tinting it with yellow if you can't find the actual color.

The actual name of the color is "spar."  CG Bob needs to weigh in on this. To my knowledge Testors doesn't have anything that's a close match, but White Ensign Models has the exact shade you're looking for, and now that the exchange rate isn't so godawful I'd recommend that route. I just picked up a tin of it myself last week.

I am building Glenco's U.S. Coast Guard Rescue Boat which surprisingly is a very accurate replica of the actual boat and measures out very, very close. Living in the Pacific North West I've had the opportunity to see, explore photograph and measure several of these boats. Plus I have actual USCG blue prints. So, here is my dilemma, I cannot decide which enamel model paint (preferably Testor's model master) best represents the deck tan used on the gunwales, decks, stacks etc.
