Kreigsmarine Paint Question

I recently used my first set of Life colors and I love them! I used Navy Blue 5N and Weaterdeck Blue.  I liked the accuracy of the colors and I love the quality of their finish. I will definately use them again!

Well the Lifecolor paints are actually pretty easy to brush paint and to use them with airbrush you must thin them you can use the thinner that lifecolor manufactures or you can use the Tamiya X20 thinner to thin the paint.

The Lifecolor Kreigsmarine paint set actually comprises two different sets Kreigsmarine set one has all the different paint for the different regions the Kriegsmarine operated and also includes the antifouling red paint used under the waterline. Kreigsmarine set 2 deals with the U-Bootwaffe and I suggest getting both sets as the TierFirness paint in set 2 looks like a close match to some of the colors on the decks on Kreigsmarine surface ships. But if you don't want to paint the deck I would suggest picking up a wood deck from KA-Models.

Hey guys,

I am currently building Tamiya's 1:350 Bismarck and will be coming up to paint it soon. I Have recently noticed that LifeColor has a Kreigsmarine Color kit especially for German WW2 Surface Vessels.

Has anyone used it or have any experience with it? I currently use Tamiya paints and was planning to use them for the Ship. Are the Lifecolor variants pretty spot-on with accuracy or should i just stick to the Tamiya paint choices?

I am eager to try them out, they sound fairly good. If they are correct it will save a lot of mucking around trying to work out the best colors to choose.

I know that some of their US Navy Colors have accuracy issues, but am not sure about the KM.

I liked the Deck Blue but I had to lighten their Navy Blue 5-N a little to provide suitable (but not too much so) contrast on my 1943 USS New Jersey (open bridge). I am very impressed with the quality of finish; as the commercial used to say, "No runs, no drips, no errors).  The coat was very smooth, and the areas that I had to touch up with a brush blended very well into the areas where I airbrushed.  I will use these paints again, though I have never compared them with Vallejo colors. I have never been able to find them.

from what i have read they sound like pretty good paints overall. I ordered the KM Set and should get them in the next few days. cant wait =)
