Stupid question
Posted by Pavlvs on Thursday, March 1, 2012 2:19 AM

Please don't laugh!

This may seem obvious to some but I've begun to gather up detail sets for the Revell 1/72 scale Flower class Corvette and I keep seeing selections for long foc'sle and short foc'sle versions of the ship but I have no idea which version mine is.  I have the Revell AG HMCS Snowberry and the long and the short of it is, (I concede that that was rather forced) which one do I have?

Thanks as usualConfused

The Revell kit is of the earlier, shorter forecastle.

An intersting build thread here;

Never stupid, only foolish, and I don't think this question was either.

I hate to disagree but the Revell Flower kit depicts a long Fo'csle version of the Corvette.

Many Flowers started as short foc'sle versions and were converted during the war.

Snowberry had her Foc'sle extended at Charleston over the period December 1941 - February 1942.

I have to agree that it is a long forecastle version.   There is an excellent book on the Flower Class Corvettes from Squadron, and it has scale drawings of both versions.

There is also an excellent book in the "Anatomy of the Ship" series:
