"E" model Perhaps someone can help
Posted by sharkbait on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 5:36 AM

A few years ago I stumbled across a site that let you build a model ship on your computer.

I saved it as a link but it sank like a stone in my great computer crash of 2009. Terrible tragedy - no survivors.

It looked like a fun thing to do and a way to interest a few of my friends children in the hobby - I have attempted a couple of searches but have come up blank.

Anyone have a clue?

Cheers

Do you mean ecardmodels?

http://ecardmodels.com/

It is an online shop for paper models;  ships, aircraft, vehicles, structures

No - it was a site that allowed you to build a model "online" on the computer an then see it in 3d.

My son sent me a link to an on-line modeling site called minecraft where a guy was building an immense model of the Star Trek Enterprise (don't recall if it was the 'D' or not and I can't find my link anymore either.)

Try minecraft.net & see if it fits the bill.

Hope this helps.

That wont be it, minecraft is a game where you build your environment out of blocks. Lots of youtube videos.

I think i know what the OP is talking about, i had one a few years ago of the matrix vessel. Give me a little bit and ill see what i can find.

All i can find is 3D Kit Builder.

http://www.3dkitbuilder.com/main.htm

Every other site i managed to track down has been pulled.

This sucks because after having played with 3D Kit Builder i can positively say its a second rate program at best. The fact that you have to purchase it and then it proceeds to blast advertising in your face. Im unimpressed with it. But thats all i can find sorry.
